The Theme of the Sydney based Affectors exhibition on this occasion was entitled "Cause and Affect" . For my cause I chose Autism awareness with the title of my 2 pieces of work being Reflections.
My youngest son was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome from the age of 3 so I wanted to create a strong contrast between both my illustrations in style and approach to show how he has developed and grown over the years.
The younger illustration is more painterly and whimsical with the more mature version being tight and photo real.
I was inspired by a job I did for a client a little while ago where I created a low polygon scene with mountains, I really liked the style and enjoyed creating low polygon assets so I wanted to create something of my own. It originally started out as just a landscape scene but then evolved from there. I thought about the town perched upon the rock, what type of place it might be and how the inhabitants might live which led me to think that they would need to have their supplies brought into them by air, their fruit, vegetables and livestock so I came up with this little character ferrying his sheep to trade at the market on his jet scooter.

A piece I did a little while back with a victorian strongman style flea for an exhibition which had power as it's theme. I decided to illustrate the concept of power in it's most basic sense but I wanted to have a bit of fun with it too.
